What is an Expressive Arts Group?

This group is designed as a type of group therapy, facilitated by a certified clinical counsellor, and offers many of the same benefits as individual therapy.

Group therapy can be a place…

  • to be introspective and reflect
  • to safely give voice to your experiences
  • to be heard, received, and supported
  • to creatively express and process your feelings and experiences
  • to foster connection through shared experience and discussion
  • to learn from other perspectives and experiences
  • to nurture your creative side, whatever that might look like for you

In this format, you will have the opportunity to share your work, personal experiences, and what may have come up for you throughout the process. Whether you would like to share and to what extent will always be up to what feels safe and right for you!

Some of the topics on the agenda for the four sessions include:

  • what it means to be safe, to create and maintain healthy boundaries
  • childhood experiences and ways they have shaped us into who we are today
  • identifying and looking deeper at our shields, armour, defenses from the past and present
  • feelings of being stuck or in conflict with oneself, others, and greater structures
  • exploring our values, our alignment with them, and how they show up in our lives
  • what creates meaning and value in our lives, and what is no longer serving us
  • acceptance, embracing some things and letting go of others

Your facilitator is Osha Hagon, a Registered Clinical Counsellor.
